Bat Studies
Bats have been in the news lately because of the spreading disease, white nose syndrome. It's a fungal disease that is 100% fatal to infected bats. This threat to their population makes these light pollution studies even more important. We need to protect their habitat and roosting sites as much as possible, including light pollution.

IDA Chapters
Welcome to IDA Chapters. Chapters are staffed by volunteers all over the United States and the world. They act as a base for IDA in their regions. They organize events, educate and network with municipalities, schools and other organizations. You do not have to be an astronomer or an engineer to be a Chapter Leader. The only qualification is a passion to advocate for keeping the night skies natural.
Chapters agree adhere to IDA’s philosophies and bylaws. In addition, they are required to submit annual reports to IDA and are bound to uphold the rules of Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code of 1987.

For Chapter Leaders Only: Evluma has developed a sampling program to help the IDA get the word out about Evluma’s Dark Sky Friendly device, the Clearlight 40W LED luminaire. The Clearlight is an energy-efficient, mercury free and dark sky friendly replacement for the infamous NEMA ‘dusk-to-dawn’ area light, or ‘glare bomb’ as it is know in some circles. Evluma has put together this sample program at the request of several IDA members who expressed interest in having a sample of the Evluma Clearlight that they could show to the various organizations they visit throughout the year. To request a sample please contact Cathleen Shattuck at cshattuck@evluma.com or call 206-720-1798 ext 108 and identify which IDA Section you are from.
