ABOUT THE 2019 AGM AND CONFERENCE
The 2019 Annual General Meeting and Conference will showcase lessons and skills from the network of people working to protect the natural nighttime environment around the world. From first steps to huge successes, lessons learned, and challenges overcome, the IDA 2019 AGM and Conference will explore the journey of dark sky advocacy and empower people to get involved.
The Annual General Meeting is attended by IDA members, supporters, and advocates seeking to meet and network with like-minded dark sky defenders. Attendees are passionate about protecting the night, are invested in the future of IDA, and are eager to learn and be inspired.
The theme of the AGM and Conference is Shooting For The Stars – from small steps to giant leaps, practical tips for advocacy, lighting, policy, and conservation for dark skies. The AGM will be held in Tucson, AZ November 8-9.
CALL FOR CONTENT
Do you have a special skill, success story or lesson learned that will empower, encourage, and strengthen IDA’s network of dark sky advocates? If so, we invite you to submit an application to present at the 2019 AGM and Conference.
Tips for applicants:
- Think beyond powerpoint. We’re looking for audience-centric, engaging content that facilitates real-world, hands-on learning. (Some ideas include a mock town hall, role-playing, or small group discussions to solve a problem.)
- Make it fun. The loss of the natural nighttime environment is a serious issue, but we can save the world and have fun doing it!
- Inspire answers to the question, “now what?” Your audience should walk away energized and motivated to make changes in their communities.
Questions? Thoughts? Need a little help pulling together an idea? Please contact Amanda Gormley at [email protected].
