We all share one big sky. Help protect it.

Light pollution doesn’t stop at borders – and that’s why our work to protect the night is a global movement. We all share one big sky.

Outdoor lighting that is used indiscriminately can disrupt wildlife, impact human health, waste money and energy, contribute to climate change, and block our view of the universe. Because of your support, our urgent call to protect and restore the night is being heard around the world. Thank you.

Even with these global successes, light pollution is increasing by more than two percent each year globally. That’s twice the rate of the world’s population growth. If we are to reverse this trend, we need your help to protect dark places, celebrate the night, and lead the way toward responsible outdoor lighting where we live and work. We can slow the growth of light pollution, and even begin to reverse it.

That’s why we are asking for your help.

We are asking you to make a generous gift to the One Big Sky fund, a special fund used exclusively to invest in IDA’s night sky protection programs. One hundred percent of your gift to the One Big Sky fund will be used to support our programs, advancing the progress we’ve made around the world to protect the night from light pollution.

Light pollution is reversible and we don’t have to wait generations to see a change. As soon as we implement solutions, we observe an immediate impact. We need your support today to make a difference in your community, and around the world. Many people are surprised to learn that more than eighty percent of IDA’s funding comes from individuals – like you. The only way we can continue our global progress is with your support.

Whether you joined this worldwide movement to protect the night because you want to experience the awe of the cosmos, because you are passionate about wildlife and habitat conservation, or because you want better lighting where you live, your actions today create better nights tomorrow.

Please give to the One Big Sky fund today. Think about how much the night sky, filled with stars, means to you, and if you’re able, increase the amount you give to this special fund.
